A few simple checks.
Then we’ll take it from here.
Some problems have a simple cause. These checks stay outside the appliance—no tools, disassembly or electrical work.
Start with safety.
If you notice smoke, a burning smell, sparking, electric shocks or water near electrical connections, stop using the appliance. Only switch it off or unplug it if you can do so safely from a dry position. Do not touch wet plugs or repeatedly reset a tripping breaker. Arrange professional help.
Safe checks by appliance.
Dishwashers & washing machines
Check that the door is closed, the correct programme is selected and a delay timer is not active. Confirm the water supply tap is open. Look for visible hose kinks without moving a heavy appliance. If it is leaking, stop using it.
Dishwasher repairs →Fridges & freezers
Check the temperature setting and that the doors close fully. Move items away from internal air vents. Keep doors closed as much as possible while arranging help if cooling is failing.
Fridge & freezer repairs →Ovens & stoves
Check the selected function, temperature and timer settings. After a power interruption, consult the user manual for clock settings. Do not remove panels or touch wiring.
Oven & stove repairs →Microwave ovens
Check that the door closes and the control lock is off. Never run it empty or remove the outer cover. Stop using it if there is arcing, damage to the door or a burning smell.
Microwave repairs →Tumble dryers
Check the selected programme and load size. With the dryer off and cool, clear the accessible lint filter as described in the manual. Stop using the dryer if it overheats or smells burnt.
Tumble dryer repairs →Air-conditioning
Check the remote batteries, operating mode and temperature setting. Keep accessible air vents clear. Leave electrical, refrigerant and internal service work to a technician. We provide servicing and repairs only.
Air-conditioning servicing & repairs →Cold rooms & refrigeration
Note displayed temperatures and alarms. Check doors are properly closed and visible vents are unobstructed. Do not alter controllers, refrigerant components or defrost settings to compensate for a fault.
Refrigeration repairs →Still not working?
Record the brand, model, error code and when the fault happens. A photo of the display can help. Avoid repeated trial runs if the appliance is leaking or behaving unusually.
Book a technician →What a call-out costs.
R650 includes the call-out and first 30 minutes of assessment/labour. We discuss additional labour or parts before proceeding. Read our FAQs or service terms.
